Sleep Tonight:
There comes a time in all our lives when we will have to face losing someone
close to us. Although loss is a part of life, nothing can prepare us for the
feeling of knowing that person won’t be physically in our lives anymore. My
stepsister, Debbie, suffered from a disease called
Lupus*, which attacks the
immune system, causing the body to reject itself, and eventually shut down.
During the few days before her passing, this song came to me. It is for anyone
who has ever experienced loss.

If
Only:
Every day we are bombarded with others telling us what to do in
order to be who they think we should become. We develop an image of how we
should look, feel and act based on those opinions. Instead of listening to our
own voice to determine who we are, we allow the outside world to dictate it for
us. If Only describes the struggle between trying to be ourselves and being
afraid that we won’t please others, ultimately leaving us alone.
Sticks &
Stones: A moment in time when a child learns that her
parents are separating. They are arguing just down the hall, unaware of her
presence, laying out plans for their “new life apart.” Hearing how her life
is going to change, she feels helpless, angry and alone.
7 Minutes: A step-by-step account of a battered wife leaving her abuser
the morning after a “quarrel.” Although she has dreamed of freedom for a
long time, she knows that she is in grave danger by doing so, and must plan
carefully. On this morning, he has left the keys to his “pride and joy” in
plain sight, and she uses that as her opportunity to escape.
Get Used to It:
We have all met someone who thinks they are “God’s gift to everything.”
Get Used to It takes a humorous shot at someone who thinks he owns every woman
he sees, and believes they will be “pining away until [his] highness calls.”
A song for anyone who has met such a person!
Don’t Look Back: With all the chaos happening in the world around us,
sometimes it seems easier just to hide from life. Don’t Look Back tells the
story of someone too scared to experience life. Going from being too frightened
to sleep at night, to complete exhaustion during the day. The only solace is the
thought of running away from everything that is holding us back, and running
toward our dreams.
Fly Away:
A little girl tries to understand why her "protector" is hurting
her. She escapes to her own little world to block out the pain, and dreams
of a day when she will be rescued by someone who will love her.
If I Were
You: Sometimes we take for granted the ones closest to us,
only truly appreciating them when we face losing them because of it. A reminder
to appreciate those who care for us.
Once More: Love is not only a decision, it’s a commitment. Like musical
vows, Once More is the promise to love forever.
You Get to Me: There are times when honest, true love may seem impossible
to find. We can get so accustomed to keeping up our guard, that we are
surprised when someone can see through it. A song celebrating a love so
strong that thoughts are shared before words are spoken.
Stop: About a manager who promised everything and delivered
nothing!
I Love You Lord: A tribute to the source of every good and perfect
gift.
